Holiday Luncheon and Fashion Show - December 13, 2014

The Guild’s second membership meeting of the year was held in conjunction with a luncheon and holiday fashion show on Saturday December 13, at the Albuquerque Country Club.  The Ventana Room was the perfect setting for a festive holiday event with its expansive views of the golf course.  Fashions were provided by SteinMart and Guild member models rocked the runway with Senoritas providing a youthful take on the latest fashions.  There were several mother /daughter combos which made the show more interesting.  A lunch of chicken crepes and all the trimmings was served and a special ribbon cake was created for the occasion.  Six local vendors provided a unique shopping experience for our members and guests.  Our raffle baskets produced $378 in revenue.  Thanks to those who participated. A lovely way to continue the holiday season!

See you on March 19 at Nick and Jimmy’s!

Annual Membership Meeting and Luncheon - May 7, 2014

The Luncheon on May 7 at Tanoan was a wonderful celebration of the year.  The two, extremely talented, first-place winners of the Music Guild Young Artists’ Competition for Piano (Ken Lien) and Strings (Ryan Downs) performed prior to the General Meeting which set a celebratory tone.  The celebration continued as sixteen grant recipients (see below) were awarded their checks (totaling $80,000), and a dozen or so lucky winners took home prizes from the raffle.  The Music Guild Grace Note was awarded to long-time member Jackie McGehee, and Jackie Tobias graciously accepted a beautiful, copper Nambe bowl, a farewell and thank-you gift for her two years of service as co-president of the Guild.

Thank you to Peggy Way, Membership VP, and her committee for all their hard work planning and facilitating such an enjoyable luncheon!!

Spring Luncheon and General Meeting - March 19, 2014

Spring had sprung, as on Wednesday, March 19 all were decked out in spring colors, six raffle baskets in pastel colors, flowers on the tables, and the wine table for Senorita ball decorated with bright pink peonies.  Time was spent catching up on news and being reacquainted with friends some have not seen in a while.  Our new Board was voted in and bylaw changes passed.  We made $430 on the raffle!  Thanks to all who put the baskets together and to those who bought them.  Tickets were $27, giving us $1.50 profit per ticket.  Fifty ladies reserved spaces with forty-eight attending.  Our next luncheon will be May 7 at Tanoan Country Club from 11am to 2pm.  Come listen to the JMYAC winners and meet the 2014 grant recipients!

Wine and Roses Social - February 12, 2014

Picture a beautifully serene evening with a fire burning in the fireplace, fragrant roses, savory and sweet goodies, wine flowing, and animated conversation at the cozy home of Lorna Wiggins.  The second Meet and Greet for this year flowed so easily that there was no need to interrupt the 20 harmonious voices with a game of charades!  We even got to meet Lorna’s mother, Patty; daughter, Brooke; and dachshund, Daisy. An atmosphere of love, acceptance, and family surrounded all who attended.
