For the love of music, the Music Guild of New Mexico supports, promotes, and encourages nonprofit musical organizations that will educate, enhance, engage, and enrich the quality of our New Mexico community, especially its youth.

November 2023

  • Booling with Dad, our Halloween costume contest event was wonderful. Ken and Barbie joined us along with Father Daughter Navy Pilots, UNM Bloody baseball players, and even PB and J with a beer combo! The girls along with their Aunite Mames and Teresa Ednes had a wonderful morning volunteering with the Blue Star Mothers on November 18th and enjoyed learning table etiquette and an amazing meal at the Etiquette Luncheon at ACC on Sunday the 19th.

April 2023

  • Every fall and spring over 17,000 4th and 5th grade students attend live concerts presented by the musicians of the NMPhil in Popejoy Hall on the UNM campus.  These concerts are a continuation of a 50 year plus tradition developed by the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra and are the first live classic orchestral concerts attended by most of the students. Over 95% of the teachers surveyed said their students enjoyed and valued the experience.  Guild volunteers have a long history of helping thousands of students to Popejoy Hall for a special concert.  We need six volunteers each day. 

September 2022

  • The New Mexico Philharmonic has scheduled our 2021 Jackie McGehee Young Artists' Competition winners to play as part of their 2022/23 Afternoon Classics, 2022/23 Season. Exuberant Beethoven!   • It was an outstanding competition! Congratulations to contestants, their parents, teachers, and accompanists! A replay of the performances and award ceremony is available on the Jackie McGehee Young Artists' Competition YouTube channel.   • The 2022 Jackie McGehee Young Artists' Competition for Piano and Strings is now accepting applications for the 2022 Competition. The Competition will be held on February 11 and 12, 2022, in the Recital Hall at Robertson & Sons Violin Shop in Albuquerque. Applications will be accepted through December 15, 2021.
